Sentara Health Plans Partners With The Periscope Group

For this partnership, Periscope's physical and occupational therapists will schedule an in-home assessment with eligible members. Periscope's assessment will support Sentara Health Plans' current authorization process for high-cost DME items.

The assessment normally takes less than an hour and is mainly done by interview and observation. The Periscope therapist may ask you to demonstrate an activity or get your permission to take a picture that supports their assessment narrative. The therapist will also observe existing equipment, any environmental or safety concerns, and other related information to share with Sentara Health Plans. Once the assessment is done, a report is delivered to Sentara Health Plans, and a final determination will be made by our utilization management (UM) department.
