COVID-19 Benefit Accommodation Updates Effective June 30

Optima Health began providing 100% coverage for many services related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that infection rates have decreased, after June 30, 2021 the following benefits will be covered according to your plan’s benefits:

  • all telehealth visits, including telephone only, with any in-network care provider, other than those associated with COVID-19 diagnostic testing as described below
  • any necessary in-network or emergent out-of-network treatment of COVID-19

The following will still remain covered in full through the duration of the public health emergency:

  • all covered out-of-pocket member costs associated with COVID-19 diagnostic testing, rendered in person or via telehealth technology, as deemed appropriate by the ordering provider
  • vaccine dose(s)

The Local Choice (TLC) Employees

The Optima Health Vantage HMO Plan is a plan choice in the Greater Hampton Roads area available to Commonwealth of Virginia and The Local Choice employees where an employer has selected Optima Health as a plan offering.  It’s one of the lowest cost comprehensive plans available to you. With the Optima Health Vantage Plan, members may receive services at participating providers in the Optima Health Vantage network throughout Virginia and North Carolina.

Employees enrolling with Optima Health must live or work in the Greater Hampton Roads region which is defined as: Chesapeake, City of Franklin, Gloucester, Hampton, Isle of Wright, James City, Mathews, Newport News, Norfolk, Poquoson, Portsmouth, Southampton, Suffolk, Surry, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, York. Enrollment opportunities are available at the annual election period for your employer group or during a special enrollment period following a qualifying life event.
