Physical Activity

Regular exercise is a critical part of staying healthy.

People who are active live longer and feel better.

Exercise can also help you maintain a healthy weight.

When exercising choose activities that you enjoy. Aim for 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity each week.

Walking briskly, light yard work and biking are examples of aerobic exercise that cause the heart and lungs to work harder.

And you don’t have to do it all at one time. Your heart muscle will benefit by doing at least 10 minutes of an activity at a time, like climbing stairs.

Also, be sure to include strengthening and flexibility activities to help build and maintain bones, and burn calories.
