Topic: A closer look at the Medical Utilization Summary

The Optima Health I3 dashboard is a perfect starting point to view all of your organization’s data, both financial and clinical. We will be working directly from the Dashboard, but all of the information we cover is also accessible on the Splash Page.

We will now take a closer look at the Medical Utilization Summary, found on your Dashboard.

The Medical Utilization Summary shows current and previous per member per month cost by varying categories, such as professional medical services, inpatient, pharmaceutical and others.

Mouse-over the bars for actual figures to compare the current year’s data in green ... to the previous year’s data seen in blue.

For additional detail behind the graph, simply click the "details" button in the upper right corner of the graph.

The Details Chart shows the graph’s supporting data.

Each of these gold buttons … when clicked … displays detailed reports on the particular category. The pharmacy button displays a complete dashboard of information that is reviewed on the Pharmacy Dashboard video.

The Inpatient Report shows claims for inpatient expenses during the time period selected. This report provides details on admissions, amount paid, average per member per month, number of days and length of stay.

Claims are categorized by "in network" and "out of network" and shows the facilities where employees were admitted. Don't forget to look at the second tab on the report for inpatient diagnosis.

All of the data can be exported, modified and saved.

This area has a wealth of information on where medical expenses are being spent ... with breakdowns by average member and percentages.
