Have you noticed new letters from Optima Health about providing blood lead level testing to your Optima Family Care (Medicaid) patients at 12 months and 24 months of age?

Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) and Optima Health are collaborating on a proactive initiative designed to help increase lead screening rates across the State of Virginia. Lead screening is an Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) requirement.

Notification letters are sent to providers three months before the 12 month and 24 month well-child visits. Follow-up letters are sent three months after the 12 month and 24 month well-child visits.
