Sentara Health Campus Opens Summer 2006

Construction begins on 3rd building

Virginia Beach, Virginia –May 25, 2006- Private and Sentara physicians are among the dozens of doctors committing to office space at Sentara Princess Anne, the 72-acre comprehensive health campus at the intersection of Princess Anne and Dam Neck Roads.

Slated to open late this summer, three fourths of all available space in the first two, 70,000 square foot buildings is currently under contract. From the area’s most advanced diagnostics and laboratory services to outpatient surgery, comprehensive cancer treatment, Sentara Sports Medicine program, and women’s services, extensive health care for an entire family will be within reach of specialty and primary care physician offices.

Topping the list is emergency care provided 24 hours per day for walk-in patients and those arriving in ambulances. Staffed by experienced emergency room nurses and Emergency Physicians of Tidewater, the emergency care facility has been designed for maximum efficiency.

Established groups such as Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists, Complete Women's Care, Virginia Oncology Associates, Orthopaedic Associates of Virginia, and numerous Sentara Medical Group practices have finalized lease agreements to locate to the campus.

“Thousands of women in that area have been traveling upwards of 45 minutes for health care. My partners and I are excited about being in what will be the major hub of health care in that part of the city,” says Dr. Craig Ruetzel obstetrician and gynecologist with Complete Women's Care.

Construction on the third building totaling nearly 40,000 square feet began in May to provide additional medical office space for physicians who will serve the health needs of nearly 250,000 nearby southern Virginia Beach residents. Plans for the campus include a state-of-the-art hospital.

“With such strong interest in the campus, beginning construction on the campus’ third building makes perfect sense for the community, says Stephen D. Porter, Vice President, Sentara Princess Anne.
