Jennifer Boone married the man of her dreams and some six years later they decided to expand their family. They were blessed with a boy, Jaden Spencer, 6 lbs., 11zs. on June 30.
Jennifer and her husband, Spencer, both work for the City of Virginia Beach and both have Optima Health insurance through their employer. So it was natural for Jennifer to utilize the Partners in Pregnancy program offered through Optima when she learned she was pregnant.
Partners in Pregnancy is a comprehensive health and wellness program that is dedicated to providing guidance, support and education to expectant moms with Optima Health insurance.
A planner by nature, Jennifer contacted Optima right away to find out what she could expect to spend out-of-pocket for services during her pregnancy.
“Oh my goodness, is that it?” commented Jennifer, when learning the cost.“I was happily shocked.”
It was then that she learned about the extent of the Partners in Pregnancy program. Susan, her patient services coordinator, called her every month to check-up on her and to offer support in any way that was needed.
“Susan was just so sweet, caring and supportive,” Jennifer recalled. Jennifer had questions too, about proper diet, weight gain, headaches and heartburn. “She answered every single question I had.”
Her experience with Optima Health wasn’t what she expected from an insurance plan.
“I’m not sure what I expected. It was a good feeling -- very comfortable. It made me feel like I was cared for a little extra,” she said. “They even sent me little fun things-- gifts in the mail, like a tote bag and picture frame. What health plan does that?”
